Four-Wheel Disc Brakes
The ventilated disc brakes [1] of the IS have special ducts inside to help dissipate heat, resulting in improved braking performance. The IS 250 features ventilated front discs, while the IS 350 has ventilated disc brakes for all four wheels. For additional assurance, the IS comes with an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist [2], which makes it easier to perform emergency maneuvers while braking.

[1]High-friction brakes are standard equipment for the front brakes only and require periodic inspection and measurement as outlined in the Warranty and Services Guide. The pads and rotors are expected to experience greater wear than conventional brakes. Pad life may be less than 20,000 miles, and brake rotor life may be less than 50,000 miles depending on driving conditions.
[2]Brake Assist is designed to help the driver take full advantage of the benefits of ABS. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Braking effectiveness also depends on proper brake-system maintenance and tire and road conditions.
